PODSPODS is a network of postdocs and other interested researchers across the new Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine in Edinburgh. We have meetings approximately once a month. These are normally on a Thursday at 4pm, and the location varies across the MMC, MRC and CRUK buildings. They usually take the form of an invited speaker, followed by discussion and networking (chatting, then). Refreshments (ie free beer!) are also available throughout, and the emphasis is very much on having an informal get-together. Feedback and ideas for speakers are very welcome, details of how to get in touch are on the contacts page. The next PODS event will be on Thursday September 24th in the MMC Seminar Room, when Sheila Thompson, head of the Researcher Development Programme, will give a talk entitled Researcher Development at the University of Edinburgh. This will include a general overview of the programme, as well as specifically covering the research mentoring scheme, and VITAE, a national organisation for research staff. She will also address what resources from the University are available to HGU staff
LinksWe are still keen for postdocs to suggest future speakers (perhaps somebody from a lab you used to work in, or a topic we haven't yet covered or should revisit), so please do get in touch () Hope to see you at the next meeting! |
